Sorry!

Oh crap! It has been over a month, since my last post, but I have an excuse. I’ve been busy brainstorming new projects, investigating Frax.dk Development’s budget and celebrating christmas. Since my last post, a lot of things has happened to me.

First of all, I made a dramatic OS change and purchased a Mac. I’m now running MacBook Pro 13″, which is the MD313 model. I have a danish keyboard, but my OS language set to english. My Mac already contains Xcode, which is the developer tool for iPhone Development.

HEY, DID YOU SAY iPHONE DEVELOPMENT? Yes, I did. Now I’m a certified Android AND Apple Developer and that means that I’m going to develop to Apple products very soon. Cocoa is hard, so I’m not a good cocoa developer – yet.

I’ve bought Spotify Premium, because I needed a music player with a lot of music and Spotify offers the best. I’m very  satisfied with my purchase and I actually think, that my music player works better than my former favorite, iTunes.

I’ve bought a mobile network, so I can be online everywhere in Denmark. I have 20 gigabytes of data transfer with a speed of 16mbps. My subscription is registered at Oister, which provides both the cheapest and the best data oriented subscription in Denmark.

Spotify – very limited music streaming…

Yeah.. Spotify arrived at our computers and now we can listen to free music from the whole world.

After reading the description I was impressed. Really just an amazing service. I registered and heard HQ music streaming with my favorite music artists, but then I read that small notices all over Spotify. ADS! Okay… I accept ads for music, because it’s that good quality, but with the free subscription, you only have 20 hours of streaming per month and that’s just unacceptable.

I listen to about 6-8 hours of music per day and this will make everything crash, since there is a time limit. What is my solutions?

  1. Buy Spotify Premium Plan for $20 per month.
  2. Buy WiMP (Best alternative in Denmark) for $20 per month.
  3. Listen to music via YouTube.
I currently use solution 3, but I think YouTube is getting too video-oriented, which actually means that music is getting bad. Too long music video’s and sound effects in relation to the music video in the middle of the song and just really bad implementation of the playlist feature.
I need to find a new solution soon…

Wishing myself congrats!

Today, the 22. of November is my birthday. I’m turning 16, but the “Sweet 16″ is an american thing. I just sit here alone and do all the normal stuff. I’ve been checking my mails, my sales count and of course been on Facebook.

Det’ VIGTIGT is growing – slowly, but it is. I’m one the frontpage of LokalAvisen/Hinnerup today, so I hope that’ll help me.

Today’s main subject will be my new server. I used Google to check my server response time before and after the change and I was shocked.

Moving server

The count is the time Google used on download info from Frax.dk and has changed significantly after moving. I can definitely recommend you to buy a VPS, because everything is simply not the same.

You have the ability to enable SSL (Like I’ve done in this post) and you have the ability to store more than one website. I currently have 3 domains on this server and are planning to expand to even more. The server is more powerful and the downtime is minimal.

I just love VPS <3

Doing the business!

I released Det’ VIGTIGT for all danish users and it’s not growing fast. What do I do?

I invested money in an advisement. Google Adwords is currently showing my app for 100$ in total. I hope the money will get back someday, but I just have to wait. Two local newspapers is getting in touch with me and is currently interviewing and writing articles about me and I hope that’ll make some money too. FavrskovPosten and I talked Wednesday and FavrskovAvisen and I have an appointment on Monday.  The PR is running in full speed right now and I’ve never tried something like this.

Being able to manage an app like this, is really cool. I feel like and expert and I’m proud of that. A few days ago, I finished and app for a company called RFID-specialisten. I’m currently about to sign a contract, that’ll give me a percentage of the income. This is good, since I’m getting money for work, that’s already done.

Minecraft Herobrine? How to remove!

I just logged in to my Minecraft server, when I became aware of a potential Easter egg. A herobrine was added to my server and I guess it’s because of halloween. This strange thing spawned 20-30 meters from the human spawn point and stood still on his spawn point. Even though he spawned on a fence, he didn’t move. Me and my mate tried to kill him with arrows, but with no luck

Later on we tried to kill him with lava, which didn’t have any effect at all either. As the head-admin, I tried to kick the user “Herobrine”, but the user was not online – and haven’t been. No log files existed for the user.

I then tried to ban him and there it goes. Banning him makes him unable to join, but if that fails, try disabling “allow-flight” in server.properties. Even though flying in Simpleserver is enabled, it only is the main core, whose flying will be disabled.

By the way, the Herobrine is just Steve with white eyes. Not something exceptional :(

Happy halloween – I’ll be in touch :)

DNS complete – moving domains.

The blog has been fully build and more of my other domains are moving now. I have some family members, who are hosted by Surftown and I’ve chosed to move them to my server. This will cost them 55$ per hosted year. This is a good deal for both of us, since they better speed and I host a website, which will finance 20% of the actual server cost. Well done!

Today I’ve done some work for RFID, which is a company in Egaa. This is the start of my career. Not only do I make really good money, but I’m also doing one of my favorite things; programming. The app will be sold in Denmark and will make my name stronger in the future.

My work at Berlingske Media has also made my name grow. A normal Google Search finds many pages of me commenting, writing and publishing things on the web. I have a future – I really have!

Tomorrow, I’m going to work on the DSU app, which is one of my “spare time  apps”.  This is a project I don’t get paid for, but develop, because of my interests in the organization.

As said in the title, I’ve been moving domains and setting up servers at my VPS. Fx. Mail, FTP, SSL and HTTP :-)

Almost set … awaiting some DNS changes.

Published by in DNS on October 16th, 2011

It really goes fast, when I just take my time to finish some tasks. Last night i published my new app called “Det’ VIGTIGT” (Only available in Denmark) and I’m selling it for DKK 6 (About 1,2 USD). Great – hope this will make me some money.

I’ve also tried to point my company website from Surftown to my VPS. I’ve chosed this, because my VPS can handle beautiful 33 times more traffic, than my Surftown server can. Since my Surftown server is so cheap, I will let it live with my email and MySQL databases. (I only pay 4$ a month for it :-) )

As far as my Ubuntu server monitor says, the Frax.dk Development Company Site still points at Surftown, even though the DNS is correctly pointed. I’ve contacted the support department of Surftown and let’s see what they tell me.

Oh god… VPS is not easy!

Hi,

My name is still Niclas Hedam and this is my blog. Tech Hedam was originally hosted at my company site, but has moved to my personal VPS today. All settings, posts and users has been discarded, due to new opportunities with the VPS. At the time this post has been written, the blog wasn’t even available to the public. Why? Yeah, this is actually a dummy post, where I can test certain plugins and tell you what I’ve done in the maintenance time.

Niclashedam.com has acquired a SSL certificate, Class 1 of course, so niclashedam.com (HTTP and HTTPS) and secure.niclashedam.com (HTTPS only) is currently safe to surf.

Tech Hedam is actually sponsored by Frax.dk Development, since i cannot effort the whole VPS myself. Now you simply ask me, how I made my boss invest in my website, right? I am the boss… Haha, hope you’ll enjoy my blog!

I’ll be back with another post, when my VPS is 100% ready :-)

By the way; my new VPS is hosted by VPS.NET in London.
